Are police command staff suicide attempts investigated differently than a regular officer?

With the recent attempt murder/ suicide attempt on himself was Freddy Ramirez investigation handled differently than a regular officer's suicide investigation would have been handled. Was this individual even baker acted?  A double standard of justice is a situation where different individuals or groups are held to different standards or expectations within a legal or judicial system.
