Port of Miami Security at Risk Sheriff candidate Jeffrey Giordano

As Sheriff of Miami Dade county, I will prioritize security at the Port of Miami. For years it has been a post for soon to be retired personnel to lay low before retirement. We must stop the fentanyl crisis that is plaguing our country.  
Ensuring the safety and security of seaports is of paramount importance due to their critical role in facilitating international trade, which is vital for the global economy. Seaports serve as crucial gateways for the transportation of goods, commodities, and resources between countries, making them vulnerable to various security threats such as terrorism, piracy, smuggling, and cyber-attacks. Safeguarding seaports not only protects valuable assets and infrastructure but also helps prevent potential disruptions to supply chains, which can have far-reaching economic consequences. By maintaining the security of seaports, governments can foster confidence and stability in international trade, ultimately promoting economic growth and prosperity.
Furthermore, seaports are major entry points for people and goods, making them susceptible to illegal activities such as human trafficking, drug smuggling, and illegal immigration. Ensuring the safety of seaports is crucial for upholding national security and maintaining public safety by preventing the entry of illicit goods and individuals that may pose a threat to the country.
